Prop Firm Trailing Drawdown Calculator

Intraday trail: the high-water mark (HWM) follows your live account equity, including open P&L. Every new peak — even a wick of unrealized gain — moves the drawdown line up. If price snaps back, the line stays at the new high. This punishes "letting winners run then giving it all back."

End-of-day (EOD) trail: the HWM only updates at the daily session close (typically 4:59:59pm ET). Intraday spikes don't count — you can hold an unrealized peak through the close to drag the line up, but a single bad close erases the day's progress.

The lock: once your HWM crosses a threshold (starting balance + drawdown on Topstep funded; starting balance + drawdown + $100 on Apex 4.0), the drawdown line stops moving. After that you can't lose your "buffer" — but you also can't ever fall below the lock line again or the account dies.

Why this calc matters: traders blow funded accounts on rules, not strategy. Knowing the exact line — and the exact equity that locks it — turns the trailing drawdown from a black box into a number you trade against.

• Topstep (Combine vs XFA): Combine uses intraday trailing (live equity); Express Funded uses EOD trailing and locks the drawdown line at your starting balance once HWM hits balance + drawdown — permanently. DLL is enforced on Combine.
• Apex Trader Funding 4.0: choose Intraday or EOD trail at purchase. EOD is calculated once at 4:59:59pm ET. Trailing stops permanently once the EOD threshold reaches Starting Balance + $100 — the locked line sits $100 above your start. DLL only applies on EOD-style accounts in 4.0.
• Earn2Trade Gauntlet Mini: EOD-only trailing — the line updates once per day at session close. Locks at your starting balance once HWM hits Starting Balance + DD (same archetype as Topstep XFA). DLL applies on every account size and persists through LiveSim and Live funded states.
• Other firms: Tradeify, Bulenox, MyFundedFutures and TPT follow related trail mechanics — verify each in their current rulebook before sizing presets here. Rules change; this calc reflects public info as of June 2026.
